Può sembrare impossibile ma anche nella DDR ci fu una scena punk. Non propriamente florida nè numericamente nutrita ma con caratteristiche e anoddotica molto particolari. e questo nonostante un regime assai poco tollerante. La Germania Est di Honocker perseguitava i punk perché li considerò minaccia da combattere.

Nonostante oggi i due termini Street Punk e Oi ha le sue caratteristiche: musica cruda e ripetitiva contornata da cori simili a quelli da stadio e testi con tematiche quali le risse, la birra, il tifo calcistico e la lotta politica; ma sopratutto è il movimento musicale e culturale legato principlamente al culto Skinhead. E` sufficiente la parola per far emergere nell`immaginario collettivo l`idea di ragazzi con teste rasate e braccio destro teso nel saluto nazista, ma non è sempre così. Anzi. Il movimento Skin è nato sotto ben altre stelle.
